A construction intelligence agency faced major hurdles in tracking competitor news and contract announcements:
Manual overload: They had to check company websites weekly—time-consuming and inconsistent.
Rigid code: Their scraping workflow was hard-coded, which requires rewrite for every new target site, and whenever the existing page structure changes
Unstructured data: Google Sheets couldn’t support analysis or filtering at scale.
They needed a robust, low-code solution to automate and expand this workflow—without exhausting existing team members
I proposed and implemented a system built with Airtable and Relay.app to deliver continuous, reliable press monitoring:
Structured Database: Airtable stores and organizes announcements, categorized by type, company, date, and contract value.
Custom Dashboard: A clean Airtable interface lets the team filter by contract type, company, or timeframe—no spreadsheet mess.
AI-Automated Scraping: Relay.app scrapes company sites weekly and feeds results into the database. Natural language models extract key information like project value, location, and partners from raw announcements.
Easy scaling: The same scraping flow can be reused by potentially hundreds of more construction websites, without recreate the flow
